One More Night - The Movement

The Movement's new album One More Night was released yesterday (get it here) and they've delivered a great album. As I stated on yesterday's post, I came across The Movement through an Iration concert and their songs are constantly on my playlists ever since. Their live show is sick and should be caught when the opportunity presents itself. Their new album shows a developing style as it's very different from Set Sail. You won't find songs like Cool-Aid, Sweet Summertime or Impressions but you'll find songs more in the vein of Mexico, Green Girl and Kind. Some of the tracks that really stand out to me are Area, Easy Love, Mr. Policeman and the title track One More Night (which also happens to be a great example of the overall style of the musicality of the album). The Movement is clearly one of the bands to follow in this genre of music, they are becoming very accessible touring with other great bands, they have a unique style and sound with several albums to enjoy. Check them out here with G Love.

The Movement

I first came across The Movement because I was buying tickets to an Iration concert at Emo's in Austin. The Movement and The Green were playing as well so I picked up a couple of their songs to check them out. Habit was the initial song (as I'm sure it is for all newcomers) but soon multiple tracks (Green Girl, Scream, Set Sail) were standing out and becoming standards in my playlist. As great as there album is, they put on an equally great live show so they're worth checking out. If you're lucky, you'll be able to catch them on the 311 Cruise 2012. All of that said, they just had a new album come out today! I just picked it up and taking it in so stay tuned for my thoughts tomorrow.

Rebelution - A Socially Conscious Band

Rebelution's newest album, Peace of Mind, dropped in January and I've been listening to it ever since. Not only is it a great album but it's a great deal. You can get the deluxe version on iTunes for 14.99 and while the price seems comparable with other albums on iTunes, the value is in the content. There are 12 songs and each song has an acoustic version and a dub version. The acoustic version really displays Eric Rachmany's talent on the guitar and if you're a fan of Rebelution's album Remix, you'll love the dub tracks. The album also features songs with John Popper and Jacob Hemphill.

Aside from putting out a great album in January, Rebelution is constantly showing their social awareness. This Saturday they streaming live from the Peace of Mind Tour. Rebelution featuring The Wailers, The Green and Pep Love! You can catch the 5 hour webcast for 5.99 here. Your 5.99 goes to a good cause, all of the bands are donating 100% of the profits to one of the six causes that you can choose from. So, this Saturday, enjoy the 5 hour webcast and put 5.99 to a good cause. What else are you going to do with it?

Song of the Week - Stand By Me by Arden Park Roots

Stand By Me, the classic Ben E. King song gets a new sound and an irie vibe in a new rendition from Arden Park Roots. The song was released on their new album Pipe Dreams which dropped on 11/22/11 (currently at a great price, $4.99 on iTunes). The band from Sacramento begins the song with a more traditional sound and emphasizing Tyler Campbell's edgy soulful vocals but 45 seconds into the song, the reggae sound and irie vibes start. Tyler sings with the conviction the song requires and the new sound compliments the message in the lyrics. I especially appreciate the message of the song. In these days when we all seem more and more divided, it becomes more and more important to be reminded of the message this song brings. Check out the song below:

As I said, their new album Pipe Dreams has just released on iTunes and is at a great price.
